Professional Biography:
Jodie is a New York University Graduate with over 20 years of experience working in a range of professional settings from corporate executive roles to human services. Her breadth of experience has equipped her with the skills to handle a wide variety of situations. Whether she was creating large-scale, organizational change or helping individuals through mental health and life challenges, Jodie has always been there for people who are at a crossroads. What matters most to her is the human experience of change; how it impacts lives, roles, and identity.
Her clinical foundation was built in a recovery-oriented community mental health program serving adults with serious mental illness, many of whom had complicated histories with systems and institutions. She has served as a Crisis Text Line counselor, holding space for people in acute distress and being fully present when someone is at their most vulnerable. In addition to her clinical work at DIWS, she also practices as a medical social worker, meeting patients and families at moments when the medical, the personal, and the logistical are all pressing at once.
Clinical Approach:
Jodie works with people in the space between a life that no longer fits and one that has not yet taken shape. Her approach is collaborative and built on a simple premise: the answers you are looking for are closer than they feel right now.
In session, she partners with you and stays curious about what is getting in the way. Resistance is not a roadblock. Ambivalence is not a delay. Anxiety and fear are not signs that something is wrong. They are all information about what you value, what you are carrying, and what might be ready to change. Together, you will work toward clarity and a direction that feels like yours.
Sessions stay oriented toward where you want to go, informed by but not defined by your history, and honoring what you have been through to get here. The hardest part of change is rarely the change itself. It is figuring out who you are on the other side of it. That is the work.
